Ariana Museum - Swiss museum of ceramics and glass Geneva
12
centuries of history of ceramics, 7 centuries of glassmaking: the
Ariana Museum reflects both exposing more than 20,000 objects from
Switzerland, Europe, the Middle East and Far East. The Museum is located in a park on Lake Geneva.
The Museum of Ceramics and Glass Ariana is the work of Gustave Revilliod.
Between 1877 and 1884 he built a building, both neoclassical and
neo-baroque near the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of
the United Nations.
He gave him the name of his mother, Ariana, and made a gift to the city
of Geneva with other properties and elements of heritage.
Today, the Ariana Museum, with its 20,000 ceramics and glass covering
12 centuries, is known and appreciated far beyond the country's borders. It is also the headquarters of the International Academy of Ceramics, which has about 400 members worldwide.
