Picasso Rosengart Collection and donation

The Rosengart Collection owes its reputation to its two exceptional groups of works by Paul Klee and Pablo Picasso. It also includes works by more than 20 masters of the 19th and 20th century, including Cézanne, Monet and Matisse.

The Rosengart Collection was originally the private collection of art dealer Siegfried Rosengart (1894-1985) and his daughter Angela. The collection contains over 300 works by 23 different artists of modern classical period, including 125 works by Paul Klee and nearly 180 works by Pablo Picasso.

Angela Rosengart Rosengart created the Foundation in 1992 in order to make this important collection accessible to the public. Today, the Rosengart Collection is housed in the premises of the former Swiss National Bank of Lucerne, a neoclassical building built in the Empire style in 1924.
